iMatter
iMatter is a districtwide initiative that reflects LAUSD's commitment to supporting the whole child in partnership with families, communities, and colleagues. Rooted in the message "My Mental Health Matters Because iMatter," the initiative works to uplift student voice, strengthen connections, and promote mental health and well-being across the District through student-centered activities, awareness campaigns, and school-based engagement opportunities.
The initiative aims to reduce stigma surrounding mental health, increase awareness of available supports and resources, and foster a culture of care where every student feels seen, heard, valued, and supported. By encouraging open conversations about mental health and emphasizing the importance of connection and belonging, iMatter helps create school environments that promote resilience, wellness, and academic success.
Through collaborative efforts involving students, families, school staff, and community partners, iMatter supports LAUSD's vision of ensuring that all students have access to the resources, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive. By reinforcing the belief that every student matters, iMatter helps cultivate school communities where wellness, belonging, and support are everyone's responsibility.
August: Building Community
Building community starts with connection. This month, iMatter encourages students, families, and school communities to connect with trusted adults, supportive people and places, and one another. Together, we can create school communities where everyone feels welcomed, connected, and supported.
